Wilderness First Aid

Sign up for Wilderness First Aid scheduled for March 22-23. 

Based on the Scouting America’s 16-hour Wilderness First Aid Curriculum, the course is offered through the Emergency Care and Safety Institute’s Istrouma Area Council Educational Center and supported by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American College of Emergency Room Physicians, and the Wilderness Medical Society. The course meets Scouting America’s Health & Safety requirements for participating in high adventure activities.

Course prerequisites: Minimum age 14 years; current certification in an adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) course; completion of automatic external defibrillator (AED) training.

Course Dates & Time: Saturday & Sunday, March 22-23, 2025; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, daily. Scenarios and testing will be held on Sunday following the last first aid presentation.

Location: Avondale Scout Reservation Camp Avondale (Dining Hall & STEM Building) Clinton, LA 70722

Cost: Advance Registration ($100.00) must be received by Friday, February 28, 2025. On-Time Registration ($120.00) starts on Saturday, March 1, 2025, and ends on Friday, March 14, 2025. Pre-registration is required. Registration includes Wilderness First Aid Guide, snacks, lunches, and overnight camping for those needing accommodations. There is no meal served Saturday night.

The course is limited to 48 participants with a minimum of 32. No registrations will be taken after Friday March 14, 2025. Registration & payments can be made by selecting the registration button below.
